What's Cooking

We got some rain! So glad. Still needed but some is better than none and the weather right now is perfection. Second spring.
I was concerned about the magnolia trees at the park because they were dropping lots of leaves. There are gorgeous and fragrant flowers.
A second amaryllis appeared, water does wonders. My potatoes are thriving and gardenias popped out with the rain. Also very fragrant.
I volunteered for Bug Fest at Fernbank. It was the opening of a new exhibit. And really how often can you see giant dancing cockroaches! Weird joy moment.
For our Friend’s monthly social activity we decided no movie but we’d go see a play featuring a fellow Friend, Scott King. It’s at Lionheart Theater, Where There’s a Will, it is very fun and Scott is excellent. All of the cast great, 4 people, but Scott stands out. Go, you’ll see.
I have been cooking and glad that it is appealing to me again. I made cheddar broccoli risotto that was very good and used the remainder of a giant bag of fresh Costco broccoli.
Very delicious roast chicken from Anne Byrn, I follow her substack. You might remember her from Cake Doctor cookbooks. Also cold chicken for salad with French vinaigrette.
Spicy lamb was delicious. I used Indian yogurt for the labneh since we buy vats of the yogurt at Costco. Sausage vodka sauce with pasta.
Spicy pork with noodles, I found the fresh noodles at Buford Highway Farmers Market in the freezer case.
Meatballs served with baguette were also good. It’s NYT so the link may not work. I had baguette left from that dinner so made croutons (olive oil, Trader Joe Olio Aglio seasoning) to go with the wedge salad I was craving one night. Purchased dressing, bacon, grape tomatoes.
Zucchini slice was delicious, easy, made a ton, leftovers heated well.
Flautas, I used the oven and didn’t broil. They were very tasty and pretty crispy.
Butter swim biscuits with leftover zucchini slice. I needed biscuits and these are SO easy.
Next a morning flight to see Patti in New Hampshire! Husband is in charge of keeping many things alive - cats, birds, deck plants, potato plants. Keep them in your thoughts.
